Summer is back on schedule.
Why? Because the Dave Matthews Band announced this past week that they will be touring this summer.
After 20 years of summer tours, they bailed on 2011. But for 2012, they will be back on the road — and one of their stops this year happens to be nearby Hershey (which according to my estimation on Google maps is about an hour away from Hanover, give or take).
I’ve been listening to DMB since middle school, using the lyrics from the song “Crash into Me” whenever I wanted to update my AIM sn profile (welcome back to the early 2000s). Or when I wanted to decorate my book covers.
And I can truly say that after I paid nearly $20 for the album featuring their live performance at Folsom Field in Colorado, I stopped listening to Nsync.
DMB is known for their summer tours. They’re a great band to hear in concert (that’s why they have so many live albums). And in the summer going into my senior year of high school, I saw them perform in my hometown, Scranton. Between the lengthy song performances and trippy light shows, it’s still one of my favorite shows that I’ve ever gone to. Plus Dave Matthews interacted with the audience, which has always been important to me. (If you have a few moments, I would suggest watching some of their live performances on YouTube.)
So, if you’re looking for something to do on June 29 — a Friday night — I highly recommend making the drive to see DMB in Hershey. It’ll be well worth the money.
