Added perk

The reward for the considerable basketball ability displayed by Delone Catholic High graduate Sierra Moore in her high school career is a scholarship to Duke University.

That alone has put Moore among the elite players to ever put on a Hanover area high school uniform.

Now, though, she will receive another perk, courtesy of her freshman season at Duke. The university has partnered with a Baltimore company, Global Apptitude, to give its women’s basketball players digital playbooks.

Each athlete, including Moore, will receive an IPad loaded with practice schedules, travel itineraries and video. In addition, the IPad may be used for academic research, entertainment and social media access.

Duke head coach Joanne P. McCallie said, “I know that these IPads can help us get better and more efficient in all areas … Our entire program can access videos, schedules and scouting reports with the touch of a button from anywhere in the country.”

Moore will have the IPad through her career, but Duke retains ownership of the device, though she will be allowed to purchase it at market price upon her graduation from the North Carolina university.
