The Gettysburg Area School District Board of Education will vote Monday on whether it would be interested in leaving the Mid-Penn for the YAIAA. The YAIAA hasn’t extended an offer, but talks have been on-going.
“We’ve been briefed on it,” Board of Education president Todd Orner said. “There didn’t seem to be any major questions. The board will support the administration’s recommendation.”
He believes moving to the YAIAA would save the school money because the schools are closer, reducing travel costs. Orner, a 1980 graduate of Gettysburg, also liked the fact that several schools from the Blue Mountain League, of which the Warriors were a member, have moved to the YAIAA, bringing back several rivalries.
Calls to Gettysburg principal Mark Blanchard and athletic director Carlos Wampler were not immediately returned. More information will be added as the story develops.
