Spring Grove junior David Shaw received a scholarship offer Monday afternoon from the University of Maryland. It was the first for the 6-foot-4, 270-pound defensive lineman.
Rockets coach Russ Stoner, in a story last season, said this is just the start for Shaw.
“He’s going to have some choices where he wants to go,” said Stoner, who later added Shaw could have between 20 and 25 scholarship offers.
Shaw’s two older brothers, Jim and John, both played at Penn State. Their father, James, played offensive line at Colgate before it became an FCS (what previously was called Division I-AA) school.
Shaw finished this season with 54 tackles for the Rockets.
